What is the basic premise of MagicTan?
The MagicTan machine allows just about any person to step into a private booth, be gently sprayed with a fine mist, and come out with a beautiful golden brown tan. The tan is even throughout the body and lasts about a week. The process is completely safe, UV free, and takes only about a minute.

How much does it cost the consumer to use MagicTan?
Our recommended price for consumer use is $49 per session but you can get a darker tan by paying a little more.

Is the process safe for consumers?
Yes. All of the components in our tanning solution are approved by the FDA and have been used in food and/or cosmetics for several decades. If an individual has ever had any adverse effects utilizing self-tanning products or moisturizers, they might experience similar effects with our tanning solution.

How does it work?
Sunless tanning products work by creating a response with the top layers of skin. Dihydroxyacetone or DHA sugars react naturally with the protein in skin to create that tan, golden colour tanners are seeking. MagicTan uses a DHA self-tanner and a bronzer blend to give you the streak-free golden tan you want - no matter what your skin type. We have also added aloe and moisturizers to keep your skin healthy and golden brown, so you can look good and feel great!
Thanks to advances in technology, there's no longer any reason for any person to go through life looking pale and unhealthy.

What about allergic reactions to chemicals used in the tanning solution?
No. All of the components in the MagicTan tanning solution have been used in cosmetics and food products for decades. These components are approved for use on the skin and are considered safe. If you have any serious allergies it is always wise to ask the salon staff who have a complete list of ingredients that they can show you. Click here for an article on alleries and also here.

How is the tanning solution applied to the skin?
The MagicTan booth is a full-body, DHA tanning process that utilizes a new misting technology. This is a revolutionary process that allows the booth to apply a uniform amount of tanning solution to all parts of the body. When the special MagicTan solution passes through the booth’s nozzles, the particles of solution are polarized making it cover all surfaces of the skin evenly. When the tanning process is finished, the user simply steps out of the booth, towels-off any excess mist, gets dressed, and exits. The result is a uniform, natural-looking tan in less than five minutes.

Does it turn the skin orange?
No! In the past, self-tanners gave many individuals an unnatural orange glow and caused streaking. Most of these undesirable results were caused by improper or ineffective application techniques. Applying cremes and lotions by hand usually results in excessive amounts being absorbed in the skin. Excessive amounts applied in a single application can give an orange glow to the skin. Unnatural dark spots may also appear in dry or thick skinned areas such as elbows, knees, and knuckles because these areas have a tendency to absorb more of the creme. Hand held spray-on applicators tend to run and cause streaking. This new misting technology used to apply the MagicTan tanning solution assures that all areas of the body get a uniform coating of the solution in the exact quantity required to produce a golden brown tan.

What about people with fair skin that have never been able to tan?
The MagicTan tanning booth was designed specifically for individuals who can't or don't want to tan conventionally.

Do people with hair on their legs/arms, develop a uneven tan where hair is present?
No. People with hair on their bodies will see tiny droplets of mist on their hairs at the end of the tanning process. These droplets are removed during towelling off and the same even, golden brown tan is achieved.

What if I have a bald spot ?
If I wear a shower cap my bald spot will be white and my face brown !
As it isn't necessary to wear a shower cap for the misting process (it doesn't affect the colour of your hair in any way - even if you have grey hair) you can go into the booth without a cap and even your bald spot will get that great tan !

What should people wear in the tanning booth?
Many people do not wear anything. The room is completely private, so tanning in the nude is perfectly acceptable. However, if a bathing suit, underwear, or anything else is worn, it may be stained. The bronzer we use for initial colour is water-soluble and should wash out of any clothing, but the DHA applications may cause permanent stains on any clothing worn inside the booth.

Do I get better results if I shave my legs before I use the MagicTan booth?
Exfoliation prior to using any type of Self Tanner, is really the key to acquiring a tan which will provide the most natural fade. Your skin on the surface when looked at under a microscope looks like a series of peaks and valleys, as a result of dehydration and flattening of the keratinic cells that migrate to the surface of the skin.

If you can envision looking at a landscape of peaks and valleys (Aka your skin) covered in self-tanner and then think about removing the peaks like would happened during normal skin exfoliation or shaving, what you will find is the greater the difference between the peaks and valleys the greater the likely hood of the tan fading unevenly.

Thus shaving, wither on the legs of women or the face of men, which is a major form of exfoliation is best done prior to the tanning session, this in combination with a good sound skin care regimen, will ensure your tan will last longer and fade more evenly.

Obviously since a MagicTan, lasts approximately a week, you will need to shave some time in between, but proper preparation of the skin prior to tanning as well as after the session you will find this will help achieve the best results.

What happens if the mist gets into the user’s eyes?
We suggest keeping the eyes closed during the misting process. Due to the moisturizing components in the mist, eyes may feel itchy or scratchy, but there is nothing in the mist that is harmful to eyes.

How many times does a person need to use MagicTan to achieve the colour they want?
A person will be tan after one session, but it may take an additional session or two to achieve their desired colour. Once they reach the desired colour they should be able to maintain it by tanning every four to five days.

Does MagicTan give an even tan, or will some parts of the body be darker?
The MagicTan tanning booth is designed to provide the most even tan possible. However, tanners will be different heights and shapes, and may stand in different positions. It is possible that some people will find some areas of their tan lighter than others will. In most cases, this difference disappears after several tanning sessions.

Will it make the user feel sticky like lotions do?
No. Once the user leaves the MagicTan tanning booth and dries off, their skin will feel soft and pliable because of the moisturizing components. It will not feel sticky.

Does the user need to cover their hair during use?
No. Many consumers wear disposable shower caps, which are provided by the salon, to keep the solution from getting in their hair. Other consumers tan without covering their hair. The solution will not penetrate the hair follicles.

Is the user wet when getting out of the booth?
The mist applied in the MagicTan tanning booth is very fine, much like the mist floating in the air on a foggy day. By the time the user steps out of the booth most of the mist will have dried, but there may still be a few moist areas. They may see small droplets clinging to the body hair on arms or legs. This remaining moisture can be removed quite easily by towelling dry. There’s no worry about wiping off the solution with the towel. Towelling does not streak the tan, and any solution that comes off on the towel was excess and will not effect the tan.

Does the mist leave an unpleasant odour on the user?
Some consumers have commented that they noticed a 'starchy' smell on their skin after tanning, but it is usually not noticeable to others around them.

Will the user get sick if they breathe during the session?
We recommend that users hold their breath during the actual misting process, which lasts about 20 seconds. We make this recommendation because most individuals would prefer not to breathe in the mist even though there is nothing in it that would cause any harm if you did breathe it in. If there is a history of asthma or other respiratory illnesses we do not recommend tanning in the MagicTan tanning booth until consulting with a doctor.

How long after the tanning session can the user put their clothes back on?
Once the user has towel dried there is little chance of the bronzer or DHA getting on their clothes. If they pursue any strenuous physical activity after your MagicTan tanning session, perspiration may cause some of the bronzer to transfer to their clothing. Since the bronzer is completely water-soluble it will wash out.

Does this system cause freckles in people who usually freckle when tanning?
No. There is nothing in the MagicTan tanning solution that will cause more freckles to break out. In fact, in most cases, freckles and blemishes will become less pronounced because the lighter skin areas will darken and reduce the colour differentiation between the blemishes and the rest of the skin.

Will the user get a better tan if they tan twice in the same day?
Yes, tanning twice in the same day will create a darker tan, but we do not recommend back to back sessions. Tanning back to back does not give the DHA a chance to set between tans, and increases the chance that your tan may have an orange glow. Waiting 12 to 24 hours between tans will eliminate this potential problem.

How soon after the tanning session can the user shower?
We recommend that the user wait at least a few hours after tanning to give the DHA enough time to fully set. If they shower earlier, they may diminish the intensity of the tan. When they do shower the initial tan created by the water-soluble bronzer will wash off, but the DHA will remain and create a long term tan.

Can MagicTan users also use the sun and UV-tanning beds?
Yes. There is nothing in the MagicTan tanning solution that would prevent users from tanning in tanning beds or the sun.
In fact, a number of customers have found that tanning with UV rays and the MagicTan tanning solution actually gives them a better overall tan. Remember, however, that the MagicTan tanning process does not give protection from UV rays.

My palms got stains on them
Some people's palms take on more solution than the others' - see art of a perfect tan. Simple way of getting them white
is to spread some lemon juice on them, or if all else fails a little White King bleach on a cotton wool.

My tan looks different than the last time
The condition of your skin varies with season, time of the month, foods you eat, time of the month weather etc.
The skin is a living thing, and reacts to a lot of factors, that is why the tan might vary. Use MagicTan prep gel to avoid this happening and make your tan 30% darker.

The tan wears off quicker on hands and feet
This is because your hands and feet are more exposed to the elements or are subject to more rubbing in your shoes. Dab a little touch up solution on the white bits or use the aerosol. Two minutes in the morning, and your tan will look as good as new. Ask for the demonstration at the salon.

I have some brown patches on my knuckles and elbows
Take some exfoliator, or a wet soapy washer, and very gently rub off the excess. Not too hard, so you don't finish with a white patch.
